Comments:	The class is TOUGH! This prof is TOUGH! If you're a sensitive person, DON'T take her class (but if you major in design you'll have no choice, like me). If she doesn't like your design, she'll criticize/trash you and your work. She's great on telling you your piece sucks but doesn't have any good suggestions to make it better. If you major in design at UH, be aware that NONE of the professors are any good. They're good designers but they totally suck as teachers because they don't know how to relate to the students. It seems like it's just a job to them and they couldn't care less about you unless you can make THEM look good somehow (like if there's a group project that gets attention and their names are mentioned). I agree with the first entry (see above) go to Cal Arts or, Cranbrook, Rhode Island, or Parsons!!

Comments:	i took Bush a while back--i wish i had seen this site before i did, but there isn't much you can do if you're majoring in design at UH. Sooner or later you'll HAVE to take her. She is smart and some of the stuff she talked about was really interesting, especially some of her art concepts, but man, if you don't agree with her or doubt what she's saying, she'll have a conniption fit. in our class we had to do a group project and she spent about 20 minutes arguing with one group; they said she was unreasonable and was letting her own opinions get in the way of a fair critique and she snapped and said that their egos were getting in the way of a good design. Man! In the end that group just changed their design to make her happy and to get a decent grade, so that's basically what it's like in Bush's class. It can be interesting but you really have to be thick skinned and not let her harsh comments discourage you from staying in design. I heard that two of the students in that class dropped out of the design program and went for other art degrees because of Anne. Anyway, God be with you if you have her.

Comments:	if you have to take anne, ALWAYS be prepared such as do your sketches, word lists, read any handouts she assigns, etc. because if you don't she turns into Medusa and will turn you into stone with that scary, cold stare of hers when you do something that displeases her. BUT being prepared isn't enough sometimes...your concepts for your projects must be well thought out--no cliche or trite images or text! if you do have something she considers trite, she'll just flat out tell you and usually in a snotty way and for everyone in the class to hear. she told our class once that when we think up a design to ask ourselves "Would Anne give a sh*t about this design?", meaning when we create a design would she be interested in this design or not and if not, then junk it. i got an "A" in her classes but i had to work SUPER hard for them and i spent a LOT of sleepless nights doing the projects even when i did keep up. it will be the most stressful classes you ever take but fortunately working as a designer in the real world isn't as stressful as being in anne's class.

Comments:	Okay, Anne is not as dreadful as the comments above, i believe she's mellowed down some but to give those before me credit she is your harshest criticizer. not to say that she won't give you advice but follow them. She loves process, so the more process work/examples you bring in the better. if the class is lagging then she'll push back due dates, but only if she thinks the class needs it, this is NOT a guarantee. btw.. she LOVES wordlists... we ALWAYS start our projects with wordlists, she thinks it'll give you more ideas. she has a quirky sense of humor, not mean, but stern. when i first came to this class i was apprehensive because of the infamous stories i've heard, but its gotten better. its great if you have a support group to take you all the way. As a warning, there will be endless hours of printing, especially if there are others with you so try to get things done early and don't let her know you printed at the last minute or on the day that it is due, she will be furious with you and don't tell her you couldn't print.. she doesn't care. so yeah.. helpful tidbits.. she may be mean, but if you talk to her individual she's actually kind of cool. she doesn't really help you in your personal creativity but more on clean and straight forward design composition, basically more formative. Comments:	Where to start. She can be nice and she does have a wealth of knowledge however, there is no humane social skills. She must be one of those cat ladies. Her method of teaching is horrible. She should be evaluated. I'M ASHAMED that the University allowed her to be on the chair. THousands of dollars and for what, corrupt criticism from a lady who goes against some of her own rules. She plays favoritism and let this be known because some of us know. We talk!! There is something terribly wrong with this so called design program and something should be done. Im so sick of everyone being so cowardly and not speaking up about it!! She should seriously be evaluated and watched under the radar because thats the type of teacher she is... ASK 20 STUDENTS AND I BET YOU THAT 19 OF THEM WOULD SAY THAT SHES THE WORST TEACHER EVER. A HORRIBLE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT...EXPENSIVE, HORRIBLE, WORK/LEARNING ENVIRONMENT..
